Erika Sawajiri's new horror to open in Korea before Japan "Otoshimono" (literally "lost and found"), a new horror movie starring Erika Sawajiri and directed by Takeshi Furusawa, is scheduled to open in Japan on September 30, but in Korea, it will start on July 27, 2 months earlier. It is quite a rare case that a Japanese movie is shown in other territories before it opens in Japan. Recently, for example, "One Missed Call Final" opened on the same day both in Korea and Japan, but not earlier. Only other examples are Takeshi Kitano's "BROTHER" and "HANA-BI", which were shown in Europe a month earlier than in Japan in the past.
SANSPO reports that it is not only the popularity of Japanese horror films in Korea, but rather the popularity of Erika Sawajiri. Her break-through movie "Pacchigi!", in which she plays a Korean-Japanese girl, as well as her recent TV drama, are popular in Korea. Accordingly, they are planning to open "OTOSHIMONO" on more than 100 screens.
